FALL 2021 ONTARIO
SO … been a while since we had a Blog going and I know some of you really like to read about our adventures…personally I think you just look at the pictures but that’s o.k. Whatever turns the crank eh?
Well Covid has sure cramped our style but you know, there is a lot to see in Ontario. Back when the snow was flying and we couldn’t go south, we started to plan alternatives.
Throughout May we were renovating (well paint and rug all of upstairs) and lived in the trailer for a month. That was fun(ish) as we mostly ate and slept and ate there and commuted into Guelph to work at the house. Did I mention ate? Does anyone else have some new Covid pounds/kg they didn’t have before?
June was the task of putting everything back together.
July we travelled to the near north and spent time up in Pancake Bay Provincial Park (Lake Superior) where some family joined us…neat. Wawa and Sault Ste. Marie were on the list. Along with a great overnight (where we met more family by chance) in Parry Sound camping in the parking lot of Trestle Breweries…an excellent meal on the patio and a free night camping as part of the Harvest Hosts program we are members of.
And here we are in September. A new adventure in Ontario. We have returned to Beavermead Municipal Campground in Beavermead Park Peterborough. Our site backs onto the Meade Creek and the Rotary Greenway trail is accessed there which is a great bike ride to Lakefield and, in general, around town. We can connect with the TransCanada trail from here also and that’s what we did today. 21km out and about just barely missing a downpour that didn’t last long. The patchwork of trails at times is super, mostly paved but is often interrupted by roads and disappearing routes that create confusion and lots of map and gps reading especially in the downtown area…
So, attached find some shots that will bring you up to date as we camp, bike and check out the area. This time, we are going to stop at The Canadian Canoe Museum which was closed last time we were here. More about that happening on Saturday.
