SEPT 17-21

SEPT 17-21   100th anniversary of the park.  This year is 125 but I'm not sure if they have anything commemorative for that. We had a great ride here in the park.   All crushed stone from Lac Chat around Lac Monroe with a stop at the Service Center to pick up some milk and cream and have lunch.  About 21 km. in all.  A very scenic pathway through forest, over rivers and by creeks, streams, rapids and falls.  I saw the tail end of a deer.  Some hikers mentioned bear cubs and we did see bear scat twice; though I’ve been told that usually the bear is either long gone or sees you and is staying out of your way.  Always a good idea to be noisy.  It’s a great sunny but cool day (10 c) and I (J) was cold about half the trip…need to dress warmer for the ride tomorrow.     Friendly   Love this sign for the washroom…look at the legs! LOL Friday we traveled to kilometer “0” of LE P’TIT TRAIN DU NORD ra...

September 11-16

Sept 11-16 We decided to cycle in Ottawa on a suggested “Little Italy Loop” from the cities web page.  We had lots of fun getting lost.  The “map” was useless, starting with the arrows going the wrong way!  Our 14 km ride ended up being 28 km however it was very scenic along the locks, behind the Parliament buildings , etc., and ending at the “Art-is-in Bakery” where we had a nice sandwich.  We were tired and decided we just didn’t have the energy to meet later with Adrian and Erin.  We’ll have to do that next time.   Have to insert a pic here from the ride where there was a washroom in a park.  The signs noted that the building’s solar panels were net zero for electrical usage and that 95% of its water comes from rain collection. Today, Sept. 12, we move to Mont Tremblant National Park in Quebec.  Though not a Canadian National Park, it is a Quebec National Park (confused)? We stayed there ...

SEPTEMBER 4-10

Sept 4-10   Marmora Ontario, Labour Day Long Weekend   So, this year certainly has been much different travelling than BC (Before Covid-19).  We isolated after Justin Trudeau said “if you are Canadian, you should come home” as we were only 3 weeks into a 4-month trip in Texas…so we came home.  Winterized Miss Adventure Too and put her back into storage while we waited.  Always interested in seeing more of Canada, we headed to the near North of Ontario for 3 weeks exploring some of the less visited Provincial Parks and just stayed fairly quiet.   Now we will explore some spots in Ontario and head to Ottawa to visit relatives, Tremblant National Park, the Eastern Townships and who knows what might happen.  We plan to cycle a bit as we now have a reliable transport method for Elizabeth’s recumbent trike and my single bike.  (We are retiring the Tandem…another story.) We had a nice drive across the top of Toronto opt...
